Nathan Lowe has joined Scottish Premiership side Hibernian on a season-long loan from Stoke City. The 20-year-old forward has signed a new contract extension with Stoke until 2029 to coincide with his move north of the border.
Lowe came through Stoke City's youth academy and made his senior debut in February 2023. He signed his initial four-and-a-half-year contract with the Championship club in January 2024.
Walsall's Standout Performer
The England Under-19 international was most prolific during his loan spell at Walsall, where he scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in 30 League Two appearances. His performances earned him the English League Two Young Player of the Year Award.
Before moving to Scotland, Lowe had loan spells with Stockport County and Wycombe Wanderers. Last season, he scored 11 goals, spending the first half with Stockport and the second half with Wycombe in League One.
Hibernian's Assessment
Hibernian head coach David Gray said Lowe was the "physical presence" and "natural goalscorer" he had been seeking. "He brings a great energy and enthusiasm about his play, as well as a physical presence. He is a natural goalscorer and he has proven that he can score a range of different types of goals," Gray said.
Stoke City sporting director Jonathan Walters said Lowe's experience in Leagues One and Two demonstrated his character. Walters added that exposure to European competition through Hibernian would aid his development, and that Stoke would monitor his progress closely.
