Drivers using participating Walsall Council parking locations can now pay through a choice of approved mobile apps following the borough’s move onto the National Parking Platform.

The change took effect on 13 October, according to the supplied platform release, and was confirmed in a council update on 16 October.

The platform connects approved parking payment providers, allowing motorists to use a supported app they already have instead of downloading a different one for each participating area.

What drivers need to check

Motorists should look for the National Parking Platform logo on parking signs and check that their chosen provider supports the location. The scheme covers participating locations, rather than every parking space in the borough.

Walsall Council says existing payment machines remain available in designated car parks where they are provided. Individual app providers may apply their own service fees or optional charges for reminders and text confirmations.

The National Parking Platform is a shared system connecting parking operators and payment providers, rather than a separate app drivers need to download.
