Walsall have completed their 11th summer signing by bringing in Wales midfielder Charlie Crew from Leeds United on a season-long loan deal.
Crew, 20, was born in Cardiff and began his career at his hometown club before Leeds signed him for an undisclosed fee in 2022. The midfielder has since been loaned out twice to Doncaster Rovers, where he was part of the squad that won promotion in 2025.
Crew was part of Leeds' first-team squad during their pre-season trip to the United States.
Crew's reaction
"I'm over the moon to join," Crew said. "And I just can't wait to get started."
Grant's assessment
Walsall head coach Lee Grant said the club had invested significant effort in understanding Crew both as a player and as a person.
"We've put a lot of work in to understanding Charlie both as a player and as a character and we are certain he will boost us on both fronts. He's shown a real maturity in our conversations," Grant said.
"He has experience of a promotion in League Two as well as playing in the league above in his most recent loan spell."
Upcoming fixtures
Walsall begin the domestic season with a Carabao Cup trip to Bristol City on Thursday night, before launching their League Two campaign at Gillingham the following Saturday.
